When I created this piece for Women in Technology, I wanted something that spoke of power and confidence. I wanted it to be graceful yet strong. I wanted to include a globe in some way to speak to the global influence of women in technology. Placing the globe above the head implies strength but for me, it also shows the woman putting the world above herself, putting the world first. This piece is very avant guard. I think of technology in the same way; that it is always moving forward like the figure itself. The women who receive this award have incredible accomplishments in their field of study and I deeply hope this piece honors their achievements.
