Torch Run

Torch Run Award
©1996

A single figure runs in a forward motion with the body stretched upward. The figure is unusually tall to exhibit the reaching aspect of the figure. The figure is reaching far above to hold a torch "on high". The torch can represent anything that is held dear. It can be a torch of truth, a torch of hope, a torch of faith. This figure is striving to keep the torch burning. The Association of Police Officers in Canada uses Torch Run to raise money every year for the Special Olympics. I designed Torch Run in varying sizes for their use in different fund raisers as well as small pins. This piece was created to honor those who give time and money to this worthy cause in Canada. Three sculptures varying in height and a two pins were designed for this program.
