As an artist, the best connection for a commission is one where the client and I can actually meet and discuss their needs in person. A meeting planner had the foresight to bring their client, AARP, into direct contact with me to design a commissioned piece for an award. This is the piece that developed from that interaction. This award is given to the top 50 companies that are contributing to keeping the older work force on the job through innovative programs. "New Day" depicts two individuals supporting the world between them. The figures' arms join seamlessly to express the connection, commitment, and contribution of each. These figures appear uplifted and that is what happens when people come together for a greater good.
